Todo acto de violencia basado en el género que tiene como resultado posible o real un daño físico, sexual o psicológico, incluidas las amenazas, la coerción o la prohibición arbitraria de la libertad, ya sea que ocurra en la vía pública o en la vía privada. (Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas 1993)

All acts of violence based on gender that has as a possible result the physical, sexual or psychological harm, including threats, cohersion or the arbitrary prohibition of liberty, regardless of being in public or in private life. (General Assembly of the United Nations 1993)
