" On Friday 7th of June the 6th grade students who will go there next year, went to the IES Ciudad de Jaén. There we painted a mural with lots of people from other countries and we talked with some assistan of this school. We had a great time" (Nieves)
Nuestros alumnos de 6º participaron en una actividad organizada por la embajada de Estados Unidos en el Ciudad de Jaen. Participaron en pintar un mural que muestra los lazos históricos, culturales y científicos entre España y Estados Unidos. Voluntarios de la Embajada, alumnos y algunos padres ayudaron a pintar el mural diseñado por las hermanas Verónica y Christina Werckmeister, artistas de origen español y estadounidense. Asimismo, dos miembros de la embajada visitaron las clases del colegio y estuvieron hablando con los muchachos sobre el descubrimiento de Florida por el explorador español Ponce de León y sobre la fiesta de "Acción de gracias".
Our 6th graders participated in an activity organized by the U.S. embassy in the IES Ciudad de Jaén. They took part in painting a mural depicting the historical, cultural and scientific exchanges between Spain and the United States. Embassy volunteers, students and some parents helped paint the mural designed by sisters Veronica and Christina Werckmeister, artists of Spanish and American. Also, two members of the embassy visited our school classes and were talking to the boys about the discovery of Florida by the Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon and the celebration of "Thanksgiving."
